What do I do when it says "You have reached the maximum number of active projects"?

In short: Your subscription plan limits how many active (non-archived) projects you may have. When you hit the limit you'll see "You have reached the maximum number of active projects. Please upgrade to add more projects." — either archive a project you no longer use (it keeps its receipts and history) to free a slot, or upgrade your plan for more active projects.

Option 1: Archive a project you no longer use

Archiving hides a project from the default list without deleting any of its history, and frees an active-project slot.

  1. Open Projects and click the project you want to archive.
  2. Choose Manage > Edit Project.
  3. Tick the Archive Project checkbox and click Save.

You can now add or unarchive another project. To view archived projects later, open the Filters panel, tick Archived Projects, and click Apply Filters.

Option 2: Upgrade for more active projects

If you need all your current projects active, open Settings → Subscription and move to a larger plan. See Your subscription and plan.

⚠️ Important: You can't simply delete a project that has receipts allocated to it — that's blocked with "...can not be deleted since it has receipts allocated to it." to protect your history. Archive it instead.
